Welcome to the Home of Greystone Shiloh Shepherds!
We are located on a 4-acre property in the small, country town of Mendon, Massachusetts. My husband and I live with our two boys, three Shiloh dogs, and several other pets. We are in-home breeders, and we whelp our puppies amid our every-day activities. From the moment they are born they receive love and care from the whole family.
Our involvement with the “Original” Shiloh Shepherd dog began in 2014, when we added our first puppy, Belle, into our home followed later by Lily and then Logan. We were so surprised by the welcome we received from everyone. It was called the “Shiloh Family” and consisted of all the other breeders and owners who loved their pets as much as we did ours.
We were included, mentored, and made many new friends across the country. It is a wonderful group of people to be associated with and everyone who can come actually meets once a year from around the country in New York at an event called “Homecoming” for a gathering, a show, and some training. A breeder once told me that this family is like being around people who don’t go bleary eyed 2 minutes after talking about your dog!
As Licensed Breeders (LB’s) of the ISSR Registry, Inc., our kennel adheres to the rules established by the breed founder, Tina Barber, and those continued by her daughter, Lisa Barber, to preserve her mother’s lifelong legacy of developing these magnificent creatures.
To be clear, we are not a splinter or spin off group who have similar names as our ISSR Registry or large dogs called King. Instead, we are with the original ISSR Registry … the people who worked tirelessly for over 40 years tracking and recording the development of this breed, the people who started it all! They deserve the credit for their sweat and tears.
As a breeder we strive to produce stable family-oriented temperaments with high intelligence, excellent health, and exceptional conformation to the breed standard. All breeding pairs are carefully selected to ensure our puppies reflect our goals and high expectations.
Our dogs are tested for Degenerative Myelopathy (DM), a disease that affects the spinal cord, causing progressive muscle weakness and loss of coordination like ALS in humans. The hearts are tested by wearing a Holter Monitor for 24 hours to diagnose any type of arrhythmia at 6 months of age. Lastly, we evaluate the dogs’ hips either through OFA or PennHIP to assess the severity of hip dysplasia symptoms. All testing must be completed before breeding consideration is allowed.
In each of our litters, we incorporate Super Dogs’ Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) within days of birth. The process of ENS has been used for decades and benefits puppy development in five ways: improved cardiovascular performance (heart rate), stronger heart beats and adrenal glands, more tolerance to stress, and greater resistance to disease.
In addition, we also incorporate Early Scent Introduction (ESI), which begins from the 3rd day of birth through day 16 of life. This helps puppies with their nose awareness and confidence. It enhances their ability to identify and react to scents and is very beneficial for their development.
I hope you have enjoyed getting to know us a little better.
